ASCII Art

Description

ASCII Art is a powerful generator that converts digital pictures into amazing looking text art. Output art to both black/white text and full color, with the ability to export plain text, html, tif, and rtf files. A user editable character set adjusts the available characters to be used, while the maximum character width option controls the finished product size. Real time previews make for easy source image tweaking, allowing for the best possible results to be obtained.

Compatible source images include jpeg, png, gif, bmp, psd, tif, tga, jpg, tiff, and more. Output quality greatly depends on the input file. Often images such as clip art work better than sources such as digital pictures. High image contrast and a clean white background always helps. Your milage may vary, experiment

  1. I just bought ASCII Art for Mac OS, but when I try to export, the app freezes when I hit “save”.

    My OS version is 10.12.6.

    Help!

    1. Hi Hugo, I just tried on 10.13.3 and didn’t have any issues. Does it crash right as you’re pressing Export? Could you send the crash log details to support@nuclearnova.com so I can investigate? I don’t have 10.12 installed on any of my systems at the moment to try.

  2. I am having the same issue as Hugo on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6. Is this issue resolved, looks like it a very old issue.

  3. Just purchased through Mac App store. Loaded the default “flag” image to test. Upon pressing “preview” button, image renders as WWWWWWW’s only. App will not render images in detail. I have tried different size outputs, different images (both default and my own); always renders as a single flood of one character.

Running macOS Catalina 10.15.7 macbook pro 16GB RAM

I have included a screenshot of the issue here in a quick webpage https://sites.google.com/view/example-473892/home

    1. Hi Ray, I did some quick investigating and it looks like one of the last Mac OS X updates broke ASCII Art. I unfortunately won’t have time to get an update out in a timely manner, but the good news is that one of the previous versions still works with the latest Mac OS X. Please try https://nuclearnova.com/asciiart.zip with serial number 964-544-110-A466 to register, let me know if that doesn’t get you going and I’m sorry about the inconvenience, I do know that the App Store version did work on the last OS X I developed for a few years ago.

        1. Second reply,

YES, that works… thank you… what is so nice about your version is the option to choose characters. Really appreciate the help.

          Regards,

          R

  4. I posted a comment yesterday and it has not shown up here.

I am posting again, with new information.

The app will not render images in detail. I have tried different size outputs, different images (both default and my own); always renders as a single flood of one character.

SINCE MY LAST attempted reply-post, I am am NOW running macOS Catalina 11.1 on a Macbook pro with 16GB RAM
