Nuclear Nova Software started as a Shareware company ten years ago, and has gradually been transitioning into more of an “app store” model. Today is one of the final blows to our shareware services, as we’re removing most of the shareware purchase options from our Purchase page. The GL Golf expansion and subscription packs will still be available to current GL Golf owners for some time, but all new purchases will be through the Mac App Store.

Fundamentally nothing has changed about our business, we’ve just transitioned to a new more efficient distribution model. Demos are still available on our of our games as “Lite” apps, and often the full versions are now cheaper due to increased competition.

We’ve been hard at work here on Nova Golf and Disc Golf 3D updates. Fortunately 95% of the code is the same, so improving one game automatically improves the other! Here are a few new features to look forward to

• iCloud Syncing – Don’t worry about losing your profile anymore, sync it to the cloud! Feel like transferring your profile from your Mac to your iPad or any other device/direction? Feel like importing your Lite profile into the paid game? We’ve got you covered!
• Course minimaps on the scorecard

• Gimme putts and a more forgiving basket (Disc Golf 3D)

Disc Golf 1.01 has been approved for iOS, fixing a bug where iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4’s could potentially crash on startup. Version 1.02 has been submitted today, fixing another bug where the game could crash on hole 4 of the second course. We apologize for the issues. Despite heavy testing we let these two bugs through, and in the future new measures will be taken to more thoroughly test our games. Keep an eye out for the 1.02 update if this bug has effected your devices.

Here is a preview for a new feature coming in Nova Golf 1.06. In addition to the iCloud profile syncing and many other enhancements, we’re adding course previews to the scorecard so you can see the entire course from one screen. In addition, we’re posting screenshots for the two courses in Disc Golf 3D, which is going to be submitted any day now (waiting on a couple of  very minor things)
