REALLY DUMB QUESTION

Ah, Jake! The old elevator still goes to the top, but it creaks up a storm on the way. I have done forgot how many courses I have left as a result of my most recent purchase. How do I find out? How will I be notified when I must pay again for the next four? Okay. Two dumb questions. My attention spa...

Re: BEAUREGARD COURSE

Oh Jake of the multi-colored lakes, Inasmuch as you have not responded to my most recent missive, an attempt at poetic adumbration, I shall herewith respond to myself. The trouble is, I have been with myself from the beginning and so, alas, have not much to say. So lift me from this slough of quanda...

Re: BEAUREGARD COURSE

2, unfeeling michael? 1-½ perverse Jackovich? The wicked eagle is n'er in flight for me and 'tis not meet. He lies, crunching bogey's, at my feet. The birdies on the wing, the poet says (E.A. Robinson, nearly enough). Where he comes to rest no one assays. Ah, I could weep mine spirit from mine eyes ...

BEAUREGARD COURSE

I am herewith breaking the chain of command: you may politely step aside Monsieur Jake while I advance my point. I hereby appeal to my fellow GL-Golf mates: Jake has, contrary to my indisputable protestations, maintained the difficulty quotient of the Beauragard Course as only 1 out of 5. This, I ad...

New Topic - sort of

Oh Jake! I am Mr. Patience, personified. To which fact, you can attest. However, I still can't play two of my more favorite courses (Isle West and Beauregard) because somewhere along the way both are in a lake, either on the tee or at what should be the green. When, in other words, can we expect the...

WATER HOLE

Okay, Jake! I know you cheated. Scuba putters are definitely not encourged. Sometimes a fine is attached. Sometimes jail. Sometlimes a lump on the head with the five iron I just unwrapped from a tree. Maybe a jump to 2.17 would bring more luck in giving us the chance to return to grass. You did snow...

ANOTHER BUG

Dear Jake, I hate to tell you, but the pin in Beauregard Country Club, hole 11, is not in the green. It is in the middle of the lake. Now, putting across the green is tough enough . . . but across water! I could ask Who you think I am, but I'd better not go that way. It would appear that 2.16 is lik...

1st Hole Isle West

Mr. Jake:

Would you please check out the first hole of Isle West. The "T" is in the middle of the ocean. The best that can be done is a bogey with some very odd angles and configurations.

Ah, Jake old sod:

I took a look at your new game and perceived that it is not my dish of ice cream. I'd be happy to help you out, but it looks way too complicated for this old noggin.

VERSION 2.16 - 1st report

Okay, Jake: First, while the Random Hole course doesn't freeze like it used to, it plays up to hole 14 and then brings up the same hole over and over and won't proceed beyond that. If it continues to do this I'll let you know. The "real time" shadows add verisimilitude, but do little else, and could...

CESSPOOL GONE

Ah, Jake, I knew you'd have some solution. Summer did it. I must have inadvertantly clicked on Fall. It's still ugly - you need to float some leaves on the muck, or something. As it is, it looks awfully poluted. I like my idea of ignes fatui, but it would have to be a swamp in Louisiana or Florida. ...

OPEN SESSPOOL???

Jakobivich, I've been meaning to mention this for some time. I am playing Breaker's Coast once more and find myself disgusted anew by the puke-yellow sludge that represents . . . I know not what. If it is meant to be water, make it blue. If a swamp, make it green, even if you have to add ignes fatui...

COLOR DEFINITION

Mr. Jake, Thanks for the answer. It might have occurred to me had I been observant enough. I figured it had some use, and, actually, I can think of places where my astute reading of the greens is so totally askew that the coloring of the levels should help. Now if they'd just paint real greens like ...

FAILURE ON THE NOTICE FRONT

MON JAKOBOVICH, Some questions take longer than others, mainly because I didn't pay much attention till now. Paying attention is not my forte. When I press "Z" (purely by accident) a lot of pretty colors come up. What are their relevance? What to they mean? How can I use them to improve my unimprova...

IDENTITY KIT

For alll those who have tried the real thing and some of Jake's harder courses. GOLF AND WHAT IT ALL MEANS Golfer #1: "Isn't that a new putter?" Golfer #2: "Yep." Golfer #1: "What happened to your old one?" Golfer #2: "It couldn't swim." Golf can best be defined as an endless series of tragedies obs...

Re: My point...

To Mickey with numbers: A hedge between keeps friendship green. [quote] I'll bet your favorite line of poetry is "Good fences make good neighbors." Many interpretations get the poem upside down. Actually, Frost really meant that last line. Well, even Frost quoted himself in a venue that gave the wro...

SWIFT HOLE TOUR

Oh boyo, The bells and whistles we do not need! How do I turn off that whirligig whiz-bang "hole tour" at the beginning of each new hole. It only slows things down and drives me nuts. Just take me to the tee on time. The new course (Ravenswood) is a gem - the "Hard Holes" are damn hard, even though ...

Barclay-Version History addendum

Mr. Jake, I did as you suggested (except downloaded fullgolf.dmg) and now have all updates, including Hardest Holes and Ravenswood. Questions: how did I miss updates 2.13 and 2.14? When an update becomes available, how do I know and where do I go to find it - my Version History update facility seems...

Barclay-Version History

Okay, I am running version 2.12 for Mac - up through Beauregard. In gray print, at the top of the window, I am told a new version is available, but the "Download Update" is gray also, and will not open. I believe I have two more courses (one more after Hardest Holes), which still says "coming soon."...
