Version 2.24 won't install & corrupts version 2.23

I chose check for updates from the GL Golf menu. I next chose Install & Update version 2.24. When downloading finished I chose Install & Relaunch. Apple's Application Unexpectedly Quit screen appears. My GL Golf 2.23 won't open after that. Each time I try, the Unexpectedly Quit Screen appears. I'm at a loss about how to get version 2.23 operational and how to get version 2.24 properly installed.

My first 2 posts were regarding the downloading as described from the GL Golf application. This concerns downloading the ZIP file. The downloading proceeds normally and Version 2.24 icon appears. Attempting to launch 2.24. however, yields the same error.

When I download the fullgolf.dmg file it produces a virtual disc containing version 2.22

Any clues?

I am getting the same error. Just downloaded 2.24, getting "application GL Golf quit unexpectedly" each time I attempt to open the app.

More fallout from attempting to install version 2.24:
All of my Local History is gone.

When I use a copy of 2.23 that I recovered from backup 1) my computer locks up and won't even respond to command-option-escape, forcing me to do a hard shut-down. 2) The dreaded 'black vale' falls down my display and I am told I have to do a hard shut-down.

So far version 2.21 seems to be OK, but I'm wary. I'm going to refrain from playing until I see a fix posted. I guess that means I can't compete in the tournament starting on the 20th and won't be downloading any new versions or courses. But I'll stay tuned.

Let me guess, you all are using 10.4.x right? For some reason I've gotten several of errors like you described on 10.4.x, but anyone with 10.5.x or 10.6 can play the game just fine (just check the new course highscores page at http://nuclearnova.com/highscores.php).

I'm actively working on a solution. If anyone could open the Console.app program in Applications->Utilities, try to open GL Golf 2.24, and then copy/paste what it says it would be very useful. I already have two crash logs sent to me, which give me no useful information.

Sorry about this, I hope to have it fixed by tonight/tomorrow.

Well I have one new version to test before headed out on a 5 hour drive. The new driver is gone for the time being, but if this new version works I'll be able to add the driver back in a day or so.

The test version seems to work fine; although, not only is the new club missing (as you mentioned) but so is the new course.

Well it looks like the interface file for the opening screen is corrupted, so if my few ideas to fix it don't work I'll have to wait until next Wednesday when I have access to a usable backup file (on vacation for a week now). Once I get that file I can add the few new features back to an uncorrupted version.

Here is my latest test version -[removed] . I'm using my cell phone for internet now so I just built the demo, please let me know if it opens or crashes on open. If it doesn't crash I'll upload the full version later today.

I just did an update to GL 2.24 and it would not launch.

Also your latest "test" version fails to launch. There was a "crash report" sent to Apple and to you according to the crash test monitor on my mac.

Why would the version 2.24 kill previous version 2.23 although version 2.22 plays OK. ( At least I have that version to play with. )

Yes, I am running Tiger, 10.4.11 on my MacIntel.

I'm sad to say that after playing 2 dozen (or so) times I got the Dreaded Vale of Hard Shut-down screen. For some reason I can't copy the log that I see when I run Console, so I can't send it to you, but I sent it to Apple.

Also, if anyone wants to join the beta program please sign up. To sign up you must register for this forum, and then click the Usergroups link at the top, and then join the GL Golf Beta group. Once I have a beta version ready I will send an email with more details to everyone in the group. That way everyone can keep a stable version while trying the betas, and problems like this will be avoided.
