...how should the background be done? I think we should have a random starfield generated. 13Jaguar is also working on some background objects.

What we could also do is have a special level format that uses "units" instead of pixels to define where background objects and enemies are. Maybe 640 units wide, 480 high. That way, screen size can be dynamic and maybe resized in-game.

A randomly generated starfield with space stuff (planets, nebulae, etc.) on top would be awesome.

The "units" concept may be hard to adapt in the code.

If this game is like maelstrom and when you hit the edge you go to the other side, then lets have a jpeg with stars and other stuff as the background
