Are you running version 1.01 now? I also have some nice changes done for version 1.02 thats coming out soon and that should bring even more stability (but going from 1.0 to 1.01 is a BIG improvement)

Hum, Are you sure you are pressing command-s in the main menu and not the actual game play itself? If that doesn't work, in the Escape folder open the Data folder and then a file called User Preferences (use text edit if you need to) and change it from 32 to 33 and save it.

For number 10 you have to bomb to the switch and then sometimes leave bombs on switches and take advantage of their 5 second delay. On 42 you need to bomb some of those walls out so you can move the blocks around (I think you may have to bomb diagonally on that level)
